WHAT IS PROPER ETIQUETTE REGARDING SOUND IN OPEN OFFICE SPACES?
We are constantly considering various ways to improve and propagate a functional environment for everyone. Our goal is to keep cross-office noise as low as possible, especially the most distracting sound to the human ear: human voices..
The most improvement will come through the help of the people residing in open spaces. With that in mind, we ask that you:
Keep your voice low while talking to others in your work areas
Refrain from using the speakerphone on your phones
Refrain from "on-hook dialing" (pressing "speaker" to dial a number instead of picking up the handset)
Lower the volume on your desk phone and mobile (speaker volume and ringer volume)
Use headphones when listening to audio/video on your computer
If you would like to include multiple people in a phone conversation you may do so by using the "Conference" feature on your phone as an alternative to the speakerphone.
If you have your own thoughts to share with us, please do not hesitate to do so.
WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I HEAR DISRUPTIVE CONSTRUCTION NOISE?
The building's policy is to schedule loud construction work outside regular business hours (9:00am to 5:00pm). On rare occasions, the work being done is an emergency repair which may be done at any time if required.
If you are bothered by construction noise, please notify a member of the CIC team, ideally by telephone, so we can respond right away.
SUPPLIES AND DECORATIONS
HOW CAN I OBTAIN OFFICE SUPPLIES?
CIC does not provide office supplies to its clients as a normal part of our service package, but if you find yourself in need at the last minute, don't hesitate to ask if we have it.
For non-urgent needs, Amazon.com, Shoplet.com, Staples, Office Depot, and similar providers do an excellent job with their web-based ordering and delivery. You can also visit Staples around the corner at 1 Washington Mall on Washington Street.
WHO DO I ASK ABOUT ADDITIONAL FURNITURE, ETC.?
Send an email to your floor-specific "helpme" email address (e.g., email@example.com if you are on the 17th floor) with some details about what you need, and we'll get back to you!
WHAT CAN I USE TO HANG SOMETHING ON THE WALLS OF MY OFFICE?
Our primary objective is to minimize damage to the walls without preventing you from customizing your office. Keep in mind that all types of wall adhesives will need to be removed from your walls if you ever vacate your office.
Safe to use on your office walls:
Removable stickies that won't pull the paint off the walls, such as 3M's Command Adhesive products
Nails are OK for drywall—the CIC team can assist you with installations
Not safe to use on your office walls:
Scotch tape, masking tape, or duct tape - all of these will pull the paint and the top layer of drywall off the wall when they are removed, and that type of scarring is difficult to fix.
